MATERIALS USED:
The Bambrella’s developing engineers wanted to check the sturdiness and increased stability of this cantilever parasol so they tested it in a wind tunnel, simulating storm-like conditions and proving it can resist challenging wind speeds of 125 km/h, as you can see in the video.
The frame - lightweight yet strong, it’s crafted using high quality aluminium along with stainless steel fittings. This way you can be sure that neither fade nor rust will ever cause problems.
The canopy – with 3 available materials to choose from (Polyester, Spuncrylic and Recasens) and 20 colours, the main feature of the vented canopy is that it can be tilted to a 45-degree angle, making the Santa Ana Side Wind a practical and stylish tilting cantilever parasol.
The bases – either you choose the granite non-fixed base (if you wish to move it) or the in-ground base plate, both of them have the mechanism that allows your cantilever parasol to rotate, included.

Choosing A Parasol Cover Material or a Canopy, Parasol Specialisten offer parasol covers in three types of high quality and durable materials, Spuncrylic®, Polyester and Recasens.These three fabrics for canopy covers have been chosen by us because they are extremely robust and resilient to the many changing weather conditions found here in the UK.
Spuncrylic® Parasol Cover Material
- Spuncrylic® is a polyester which has been through a process called solution dying.
- Solution dying is a technique used to add colour to a synthetic fibre.
- Solution dying ensures colour is all through each thread before its woven, guaranteeing a higher quality and more vibrant colour.
- Solution dying gives polyester a high-level resistance to fading from direct sunlight.
- Spuncrylic® possesses excellent stain resistance and is water repellent.
- Spuncrylic® offers an affordable canopy option which provides resistance to all weather conditions.
- Spuncrylic® delivers a *UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) of at least 50.
*UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor), Indicates the fraction of the sun’s ultraviolet rays that penetrate fabric. Example, Material with a UPF of 50, allows just 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to reach your skin. The higher the UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor), the greater the protection offered.
Polyester Canopy Cover Material
- Polyester strong fibre, highly resistant to creasing and keeps its shape perfectly.
- Solution dying gives polyester a high-level resistance to fading from direct sunlight.
- Unlike Spuncrylic, Polyester is piece dyed, piece dyed means the thread is only coloured on the outside of the canopy, like a radish!
- Spuncrylic® possesses good stain resistance and is water repellent.
- Spuncrylic® provides a *UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) of at least 50.
- Offers an affordable alternative to Spuncrylic due to the colour fastness of darker materials
- Shade Specialists only offer polyester covers in two natural colours. Beige and Natural.

- Recasens RECacril® is a high-performance acrylic fabric of the very highest quality.
- Guarantees the best water resistance and protection from the sun.
- Recasens is used extensively in the boating and marine industries for its strength and durability.
- Recasens canvases offer an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of up to +80 according to international standard UV 801.
- With low reactivity and high stability Recasens offers long lasting protection against mold, plus provides excellent water and oil repellence.
- Recasens canvases offer effective sunscreen as they filter a high percentage of ultraviolet radiation.
